It is with great sadness that Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) has learnt of the passing of Inkosi Mzokhulayo Mkhwanazi.
Inkosi Mkhwanazi, of the Mpukunyoni Traditional Authority in Mtubatuba local municipality, passed away on Tuesday 4 June at the age of 52 after an illness.
AHRI works hand-in-hand with traditional structures in our health and demographic surveillance area in uMkhanyakude District, Northern KwaZulu-Natal, and none of our work would be possible without their partnership.
AHRI enjoyed a close and productive working relationship with Inkosi Mkhwanazi over the past two decades.
“Inkosi Mkhwanazi was a great supporter of our research,” said AHRI Director, Professor Deenan Pillay. “Our thoughts are with the Nomathiya Royal House and the whole family during this time of mourning.”
AHRI will be represented by Prof Pillay and members of the Executive Committee at Inkosi Mkhwanazi’s funeral on Friday, 14 June.
