The Centre of Excellence for Spatial Omics Research in Africa (CESORA) hosted a three-day scientific symposium from 3–5 November 2025 in Durban, South Africa, aimed at accelerating the use of spatial omics and multiplex tissue imaging to address pressing infectious disease challenges in Africa.
The symposium brought together leading experts working across HIV, HPV, tuberculosis, rotavirus, and other areas to share research findings, technological innovations, and emerging priorities that will guide the next phase of translational research on the continent.
Key objectives of the meeting included defining scientific priorities for high-burden diseases, strengthening technological capacity across African institutions, and fostering sustainable, multidisciplinary collaborations that ensure equitable access to spatial and multi-omics platforms.
